From Dave Fehling who is covering John McCain in Dallas:
It's midafternoon in Dallas and we're in a ballroom at the Fairmont Hotel. It's where Senator John McCain will be holding what they're already calling his "Victory" party.
The campaign has a huge banner with "1191" on it: 1191 being the number of delegates needed to clinch the Republican nomination. He very well could do it. But even if he falls a bit short, the Associated Press says its survey of "super delegates" shows enough of them to put him over the top regardless.
By the way, it's freezing in this ballroom. We're told its to ensure that when its filled with people and the hot lights for the TV cameras, it'll be just right. Nothing worse than a sweating candidate. Also, to ensure the cameras "see" supporters in the background when cameras take a side view of Mr. McCain, a set of bleachers has been placed strategically so a sea of supporters will fill the screen. A rather strange sight otherwise in a ballroom.
