Now, I'm not a big wrestling fan (although I did see Hulk Hogan at a restaurant in St. Petersburg once and The Rock in Miami), but I do admit that I have weakness for Mickey Rourke.
I don't know why that is. Even though he is a bad boy and has put his body and his liver through hell over the last few decades, he's still intriguing. It could be his whole "whatever goes" attitude. And of course, with him being at the Reliant Center you just never know what will happen.
Maybe he'll get in the ring in honor of the 25th Anniversary and show off some of the moves he learned for his Oscar-nominated movie "The Wrestler."
But back to the WWE.
I don't know about you, but I'm already getting sucked into the mania of the whole WrestleMania 25th anniversary event. In fact, I may even chat with John Cena this weekend about how the organization gives back to the community with their Make a Wish Foundation.
For those that aren't sure what's going on, here's the rundown:
April 2:
WrestleMania Axxess:
Fans can meet their favorite Superstars John Cena, Rey Mysterio, Kane, The Great Khali, Houston's own Shelton Benjamin, Christian and R-Truth as well as Diva Layla, Jerry "The King" Lawler and Jim Ross.
April 3:
WrestleMania Axxess:
Fans can meet Triple H, Randy Orton, Edge, Texas natives Shawn Michaels and Mark Henry, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Ted DiBiase, Cody Rhodes, Umaga, Cryme Tyme, as well as Divas Eve and Candice and WWE Legend Honky Tonk Man.
April 4:
WWE Book Trivia Contest
WWE Superstars Matt Hardy, MVP, Mark Henry and Diva Laya will be at the Houston Public Central Library from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. They will be there to watch the finalists, ages 12-15 (including three from Houston), square off in a book trivia contest.
WrestleMania Axxess:
Fans can meet Chris Jericho, Randy Orton, Big Show, Intercontinental Champion JBL, United States Champion MVP, CM Punk, Kane, Santino Marella, Houston's own Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas, R-Truth, Vladimir Kozlov, Chavo Guerrero, Evan Bourne, Goldust, Jesse, Festus and Mike Knox, as well as Women's Champion Melina, Brie and Nikki Bella, Maria, Candice, Jillian, Alicia Fox, Rosa Mendes, SmackDown and Raw General Manager Vickie Guerrero and WWE Legends "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, Sgt. Slaughter, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka and Harley Race.
The weekend looks like it's going to be a blast! I may even trade in MMA obsession for WWE for a while.
