Baytown's newest park is going to the dogs, literally

blood hound on a walkBaytown's newest park is going to the dogs, literally.

Baytown residents and their four-legged friends will soon be able to frolic in one Baytown park without leashes and without the fear of cars or other hazards. The 5-acre Bark Park, will be located next to Jenkins Park (4334 Crosby Cedar Bayou), and is a pet's dream come true.

This park sounds so cool, that I almost wish I had a dog (I have a rabbit so he's a walk-free pet).

The park will include 4-acres for large dogs and one acre for smaller dogs. Bark Park amenities include walking trails, drinking fountains (for people and dogs), shade covers, benches and dog agility equipment. See...super cool!

"We're really excited to offer a park like this to our residents," said Parks & Recreation Director Scott Johnson. "Parks for people with dogs, help people spend quality time with their pets and promote responsible pet ownership."

But don't take your dog for a "walkie" there just yet. The park was supposed to open this week, but because of the rain, they are postponing it until the mud dries up - saving you both the wet dog and wet muddy dog cleanup afterward.

The official leash-cutting will be on May 12.
