So when I heard about Shop Euphoria II, a one night shopping extravaganza on November 21 which helps benefit The Pink Door, I had to check it out. Because how often do you get to shop, help breast cancer survivors and drink pink martinis? PINK MARTINIS AND THE PINK DOOR
"We have 21 vendors coming to the event," said Naima Singletary, from M.Bellish the show's producer. But in addition to a great selection of decadent shopping goodies, there is also something special for cancer survivors. "Survivors will get a 10 percent discount off of anything at the event," said Cortney Cole, Founder and President of The Pink Door. Cole started The Pink Door two years ago after her mother became a cancer survivor. "Our goal is to help their dream, after cancer, come true. Women lose a lot of self confidence, both physically and emotionally, during treatment. We try to help them move forward," said Cole. Any additional proceeds from shoppers will also go towards The Pink Door organization. GET NAKED THIS HOLIDAY SEASON Not Naked as in nude, but naked as in natural body and bath products. "All of our products are 95% natural," said Janice Abmagr, co-owner of Naked. What makes Naked's bath and spa products different is that the bath salts, lotions and scrubs are "naked." In other words, they are as close to natural as they can get and contain no fragrance or color. Starting with this natural base, customers then get the chance to customize the fragrance of their bath selections to match their personal taste.
The products are also hypo-allergenic and paraffin free. And here's the best part...they have gift sets that start as low as $18 and go up as high as $90. A LITTLE BLING WITHOUT THE CHA-CHING You won't find Stella & Dot stuff at any store. It's sold exclusively through special events like Euphoria II and home sales. "The pieces are hip, fun and stylish. They have also been featured in various magazines," said Tysh Mefferd, Stella & Dot Stylist. "The Signature Charm Bracelet was in Rachael Ray's Everyday and our Deco Bangles are in this month's Cosmo." Many of the jewelry pieces contain semi-precious stones, and many of the designs have won awards. But what surprised me was how reasonably priced they were -- especially as some of them have been seen on celebrities like Cindy Crawford. The Deco Bangle was $128 and the Signature Charm Bracelet started at $44. SUPPORTING LOCAL DESIGNERS Pomp and Circumstance is owned by jewelry designer Marie Duncan. Her work is timeless and sold entirely through her online boutique. So if you miss Friday's event, you're only going to find her through your computer...but then you'll miss out on the pink martinis and all the other vendors at the event. You'll also miss out on seeing Duncan's pieces in person, and they are worth checking out. She is mostly known for her "Harmony Collection" that have messages of love, peace and hope. She said they serve as daily reminders. But what makes Duncan's pieces unique is that that they ARE unique. "Most of the pieces are one-of-a-kind," said Duncan. "People recognize my style, but everyone has a different piece." So how much will a piece of one-of-a-kind designer jewelry set you back? Not as much as you think. "There is nothing over $100," said Duncan. "I have pieces starting as low as $12 and going as high as $98." EVENT DETAILS: When: November 21, 2008 RELATED LINKS: |
