Last night I was lucky enough to see A Bronx Tale at the Hobby Center starring Chazz Palmintery that runs through Sunday February 8, 2009. Get your tickets now! What an amazing 1 man act. I laughed, cringed and cried listening to this amazing tale that is set in New York City in the 60's on the corner of E. 187th and Beltone. A tale of one boy and two fathers Loenzo the bus driver and Sonny the mob boss. The characters like Tony Toupee, Frankie the Coffeecake, Jo Jo the Whale and the scary Eddie the mush who actually plays himself in the Film version that was directed 1993 by the great Robert De Niro all come alive with his passion and truth when Palmintery recalls and tells of childhood memories like when he witnessed a murder and covers for the Mafia Boss Sony. At that moment the stage has been set for what turns out to be an outstanding journal of his truth. Palmintery wrote this when he was at a low piont in his life and just been fired as bouncer at a club in Los Angeles maybe the words of his father Lorenzo echoed in his mind "The saddest thing in life is wasted talent" and so began his ten month journey that would change his life. |
