Lowe's Command Center working around the clock to get hurricane recovery materials to impacted markets

Lowe's stores in metro Houston and along the Texas and Louisiana gulf coasts are open and ready to assist local residents with Hurricane Ike recovery and clean-up. Lowe's Command Center is working around the clock to obtain emergency shipments of recovery items and have them shipped directly to stores impacted by Hurricane Ike. Lowe's experts are also available for how-to information on safe, effective hurricane clean-up and repair, including water removal tips and information on safely using generators and chainsaws.

Of the 58 stores directly impacted by Hurricane Ike in the Houston area and along the Texas and Louisiana gulf coasts, 43 are open with regular business hours, while 14 are open under reduced hours in areas with mandatory curfews. Lowe's of the Woodlands, Conroe TX remains closed.

Lowe's also announced today a $1 million donation to the American Red Cross to help relief efforts. The gift is in addition to Lowe's stores nationwide serving as cash donation sites for the Red Cross with the company matching up to $250,000 in customer contributions.
