Montgomery County Emergency Management is issuing the following Public Safety Bulletin for immediate dissemination.
Electric power continues to be out throughout Montgomery County and the power could be off in many areas for the next 2 -3 weeks according to local power providers.
Many area residents are turning to home generators as an alternative source of electricity. Although home generators are relatively safe when used properly, there is a concern that improper use may cause injury or death.

Sam Houston Electric Cooperative's power restoration efforts are in full swing. Crews spent much of Saturday clearing downed lines from roadways and assessing damage to the system. Damage assessment is continuing today (Sunday) by air and by ground. As of this morning, all meters are without power. Much of the Entergy's transmission system, which feeds our distribution system, is damaged and efforts to repair their transmission lines are underway as well. We will keep you informed as we get closer to energizing feeders.
