Airlines and flights: September 2008 ArchivesContinental Airlines announced today that it is offering special round-trip fares for travel originating in Houston and Beaumont/Port Arthur, TX to any destination in the contiguous United States. Beginning today through Sept. 19, travelers can book any domestic flight under 500 miles for only $69 each way and any domestic flight over 500 miles for just $119 each way. Travel with the special fare must originate in either Houston or Beaumont/Port Arthur and be booked before midnight on Sept. 19 and completed by Oct. 1. Continental Airlines has resumed a comprehensive flight schedule at its Houston hub at Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. All terminals at the airport are functioning, and Continental is providing frequent flights for travelers originating, arriving or connecting at IAH. Today Continental (including mainline, Continental Express and Continental Connection) has more than 500 departures (and an equal number of arrivals) scheduled at the Houston hub. Bush International airport will be ceasing commercial flights Friday at 2:00 p.m. Southwest flights at Hobby Airport will cease flights at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. The Houston Airport System strongly recommends that customers not go to the airports unless they have a confirmed seat and that they have also confirmed with their airline that the flight is still operating. Continental Airlines is implementing a flight schedule reduction at its Houston hub at Bush Intercontinental Airport for Friday and Saturday in anticipation of deteriorating weather conditions caused by Hurricane Ike. ... |
