Lone Star Legal Aid, in partnership with State Representative Dora Olivo, is hosting a free town hall meeting for Fort Bend families who need help dealing with legal issues in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. Today the volunteer phone bank for Hurricane Ike relief efforts will be moving to the office of Volunteer Houston. The new phone bank number is 713-965-0031. A disaster recovery center is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily in Harris County at Home Depot, 500 Chimney Rock in Houston. Two more Houston food stamp offices that have been without power will re-open Sunday to help hurricane victims apply for help. ... Walmart will make a donation to benefit Houston residents Saturday. The donation takes place 9 a.m. at 9520 Homestead. Walmart will provide the following: Donation of 24 trucks of water and 24 trucks of ice to the Houston area. Those who evacuated for Hurricane Ike through the Texas Transportation Assistance Registry are asked to remain at their current sheltering locations until further notification.
