Two days after the Houston area was hit by the strongest hurricane in recent history Reliant Park management officials are still in the process of assessing the damage sustained. "This is a huge endeavor, we have 4 facilities, over 3.7 million square feet and 350 acres at Reliant Park and we are currently assessing the full extent of the damage sustained. At the same time it is a priority for us to continue to provide support for the government relief efforts at Reliant Park" said Shea Guinn, President, SMG-Reliant Park. Current assessments of the Reliant Park site, Reliant Stadium, Reliant Center and Reliant Arena follows: Reliant Park Site: Reliant Stadium: Wind damage and wind driven water damage also occurred in various areas of Reliant Stadium. Clean up of debris in the Stadium is underway and the damage assessment will continue with the engineers and construction contractors throughout the week. The roof manufacturer will conduct an inspection of the fabric roof material this week. Once this assessment is complete, more detailed information can be provided as to when Reliant Stadium will become operational for events. |
