Forty-one Shriners Hospitals for Children-Galveston patients, families and hospital staff, who evacuated last week from Hurricane Ike, arrived Thursday, Sept. 18 at the Shriners Hospital for Children-Houston in the Texas Medical Center. All of them were evacuated to a College Station middle school. The Shriners Hospital for Children-Galveston, meanwhile, remains closed for an undetermined length of time. Galveston hospital officials are in the process of regrouping their more than 300 employees who evacuated. A meeting is scheduled set for Saturday, Sept. 20, 11 a.m. in the Knights of Columbus Hall in LaMarque at 501 Delaney Road. For further information, Galveston employees can call 713-793-3991. Shriners Hospitals for Children provide expert medical care to children with orthopedic problems, burns and spinal cord injuries, totally free of charge. |
