Missouri City residents can begin apply for building permits

Those that want to secure building permits in Missouri City can go to the City's Building Permits Divison Saturday, Sept. 20 from 8 a.m. to noon.

The city is waiving the cost of obtaining the permits for storm-related repairs. The issuance of these permits with the fee waiver is effective immediately though Dec. 16.

Forms and permit applications may be obtained online on the City's website by going to "Services" and then "Forms." Permits may also be picked up at City Hall, 1522 Texas Parkway.

The building permits are required for construction projects covered by building, roofing, plumbing, mechanical and electrical codes.

Contractor registration with the City is still required. It includes proof of $100,000 liability insurance and an $80 registration fee. Property owners obtaining their own permits are exempt from the registration and liability insurance requirements. They are advised to verify that sub-contractors performing work have liability coverage.
