Harris County will have its first round of ground-based mosquito spray operations Sunday, from around 8:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. in the western portion of the 610 Loop. The insecticide, Scourge (EPA-approved), is routinely used to combat mosquito-borne disease and will be used during the spray operations in Harris County. As they collects additional surveillance data, the ground-based spray operation may expand to other portions of the county. While Scourge is considered to be safe for the environment, some people may be sensitive to direct contact with the chemical. Therefore, during routine operations HCPHES mosquito control trucks will shut off the sprayer when they see someone potentially in line of a direct spray. If you are outdoors and you see a mosquito truck spraying in your area, HCPHES asks that you go indoors while the truck is spraying on your block so they can cover your neighborhood adequately. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |

My youngest son has asthma and started complaining of tightness of chest and trouble breathing, yesterday. We were unaware, they were aerial spraying our area until it was already in progress.
Although this is the time of year he starts having more trouble with his asthma, I am concerened this may be a reaction to the pesticide.
I am finding conficting articles, on the internet, in regards to mosquito spraying and it's effects on asthma. Were can I find accurate information?
