Food and water distribution will be held again at Channelview High School (1100 Sheldon Road) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24th. Supplies will be distributed until they are depleted. The distribution center will be in the student parking lot located on Crockett Street and Sheldon Road. Harris County Precinct 3 Constables will be directing traffic. Donations from the Houston Food Bank, North Channel Assistance Ministries, and the North Shore Rotary have made this effort possible. Volunteers consist of CISD students, parents, teachers, and staff. The North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce and LyondellBasell have been instrumental in this effort. This event was organized in conjunction with The North Channel Area Sentinel. Wednesday marks the second day of this effort. Nearly 200 volunteers distributed enough food and water to help thousands of local residents on Tuesday, September 23rd. The McDonald's located on Sheldon Road and I-10 donated enough meals and drinks to feed the volunteers during the first day. Their generosity is truly appreciated. As the North Channel Area is recovering from Hurricane Ike we hope this effort provides families with the help they need to make the transition back to a normal routine. |
