Pending unforeseen circumstances, the Houston Dynamo plan to proceed with their scheduled match against the San Jose Earthquakes Saturday at Robertson Stadium, kicking off at 7:00 p.m. Gates will open at 6:00 p.m.
In an effort to help locals recover from Hurricane Ike, the Dynamo will offer free tickets to children 14 years old and younger. Other tickets will be just $10, with all proceeds going to Houston- and Galveston-area youth soccer organizations affected by the hurricane.
Tickets will be available from the box office at Robertson Stadium on Friday from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. The Dynamo and the University of Houston will also offer free parking to fans. Pre-issued tickets will be honored. Firemen, police officers, and any first responders will be admitted free of charge by showing their badges.
Fans are encouraged to bring monetary donations to the game, and these contributions will also go to Hurricane Ike relief efforts already in place. Fans are asked to arrive early to alleviate traffic, and traffic advisories will be posted Friday on HoustonDynamo.com.
"We wish everyone well in their recovery efforts. By making this free ticket offer and by taking these donations, we hope we can play a small part in helping fans return to some normalcy during these difficult times," Dynamo Chief Operating Officer Chris Canetti said.
The game will be followed by a reserve match between the first-place Dynamo Reserves and the San Jose Earthquakes Reserves, and fans are invited to stay for the reserve match.
Currently in first place in the Western Conference, the Dynamo (10-5-9, 39 points) will take on the Earthquakes for the second time in as many weeks. The teams battled to a hard-fought 1-1 draw in California last Saturday. For more information, please log on to www.HoustonDynamo.com.
