The YMCA of Greater Houston opened five more facilities Tuesday morning, 19 of which have showers available for public use. There are now 26 YMCAs open in all. Even if you do not have a YMCA membership, you may go to any open YMCA and charge your cell phone and laptop or take a shower. The following YMCAs newly opened Tuesday: • Downtown YMCA, 1600 Louisiana St., Houston - 713-659-8501 The following YMCAs are also open: • Alief Family YMCA, 7850 Howell-Sugarland, Houston - 281-495-9100 ( more ) • Thelma Ley Anderson Family YMCA, 3201 South Highway 35, Alvin - 281-585-3112 Facilities are reopened as power is restored and storm damage is repaired. If a YMCA is not on this list it is because it does not have power. Hours at each location vary based on area curfews and staff availability. To find the open YMCA nearest you, please call 713-659-5566 between 8am and 5pm or log on to www.ymcahouston.org any time. If their home facility is closed, YMCA members may use any YMCA that is open. People must bring their own towels and toiletries to use showers; YMCA facilities are unable to provide those items. All children (15 years of age or younger) entering YMCA facilities must be accompanied by an adult, without exception. Cell phones or other items needing to be charged may not be left unattended. The YMCA cannot be responsible for lost or damaged items. If a YMCA is not on this list, it is not open. |
