Due to Hurricane Ike, the Wild Game Dinner hosted by The Doorkeepers benefiting Open Door Mission has been rescheduled from September 17, 2008 to November 5, 2008.
The Doorkeepers is a volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the education efforts of the Open Door Mission. It is hosting a wild game dinner to raise funds toward that goal. In addition to the wild game on their plates, guests will admire the unparalleled trophy collection from around the world in the largest private wild game museum in Houston. The buffet-styled dinner will be a gourmet extravaganza featuring an amazing variety of Wild game including Texas Boar, Venison and Quail. There will also be Bison, Pheasant, Duck or Turtle Gumbo, Black Buck, Elk, and Russian Wild Salmon all prepared by Open Door Mission's Alumnus, Executive Chef Charles Rucker. He will be assisted by several guest chefs. Some of the recipes used for the dinner come from the chairs who are all talented wild game chefs as well. Pheasants were donated to the Open Door Mission by The Fuzzy Pheasants Group, a European-style pheasant hunting group led by Open Door Mission Chairman Alan Craft and several Open Door Mission Trustees. Members of the Houston Safari Club and the chairs will also provide much of the wild game for the dinner. Chairs for the dinner are Suzanne and Jack McCrary and Wendy and Irving Barnhart. Dress is "safari style" or coat and tie. COST: Limited tickets are still available for this event. Please contact Open Door Mission at 713-921-7520 ext. 218 for more information. |
