The Clear Creek Independent School District serves more than 36,000 students across 13 municipalities, including Seabrook, Nassau Bay, League City, Kemah and the greater Clear Lake Area. As of Thursday, September 18, 2008, a significant number of schools and neighborhoods still remain without power. Of the 38 CCISD schools, CCISD has determined seven suffered significant damage due to Hurricane Ike. CCISD maintenance crews and area contractors are working to repair roofs, remove water and debris, and restore power to all schools as quickly as possible.

At 4 p.m. Thursday, a meeting will be held with administrators and work crews to determine the likelihood of CCISD opening schools for students on Tuesday, September 23, 2008. At this time, CCISD is requesting teachers and campus support staff report to work on Monday, September 22, 2008.

On Monday, September 22, 2008, Clear Creek ISD will begin enrolling students who have been displaced due to Hurricane Ike and are now living in the CCISD attendance zone. The central intake center will be located at McWhirter Elementary, 300 Pennsylvania Avenue, Webster, Texas beginning at 8 a.m. A team of CCISD employees and volunteers will be on hand to assist families during this difficult transition. Clothing and school supplies donations are being accepted at this location.
