As residents along the Texas coast prepare for possible landfall from Hurricane Ike, Sprint and other cell phone providers are staging backup generators, Cell Sites on Wheels (COWS), Satellite Cell on Light Trucks (SatCOLTS) and personnel in strategic locations along the Gulf Coast to manage potential service impacts. Customers can take proactive steps before the storm hits to make sure their mobile phones don't run out of power. Stay connected by: -- Keeping your wireless phone and backup batteries charged, but be aware that an interruption of wireline and commercial power could affect wireless calls. -- Getting extra batteries and charge them. -- Purchasing a car adapter for your wireless phone should enable you to recharge the battery in case of a power failure. -- Keeping phones and necessary accessories in a sealed plastic bag to avoid water damage. -- Loading family and emergency numbers into your wireless phone. -- Sending text messages during times of heavy traffic. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |

My godparents and godsister are without power at 8210 hartford zip 77017. My godparents are senior citzens and they are in need of rescue since they have no power and are 30 miles from galveston and only means left is a cell phone 832-274-6375. My concern would be flooding once the surge hit up to 25ft. My name is Annette and i am in louisiana trying to keep them informed but as you know the cell phone will go dead and because of their age climbing the rooftop would be out of the question. can whoever sees this email get the three of them to safety or call the 211 r 311 r 911 for rescue. God Bless the person who executes this email r sends it to the person who can. please email me with a respond r phone Mr. & Mrs. Wolf because i and my family experience Hurricane Katrina and do not want to see this happen to them. God is for the elderly and it is my duty now that i've learned they did not leave. Thanks, again to the one who sees the importance of this email. p.s. please do not alarm them i made this request because of possible flooding and would not like for them to chance it any longer they will have the final decision.
