Centerpoint Energy said that at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, 1.3 million of its 2 million customers were without electricity as Hurricane Ike made its away across the upper Texas Coast.
Meanwhile, Texas-New Mexico Power, which serves much of the Galveston County mainland and most of Brazoria County, reported that 20,000 people were without power.
Entergy, which supplies electricity to Montgomery County and the Bolivar Peninsula, reported that 15,000 customers were without power.
