Recently by SarahIt is no surprise that we, as a country, are in some pretty tough economic times right now. It seems like every day I read about another high-powered company laying off thousands. Scary scary scary!! So, while perusing my daily pile of celebrity gab I fell across a disgusting piece of news: Union leaders--including the president of the Screen Actors Guild--have proposed a strike authorization. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!??? If you can recall, the industry in February recovered from a 14-week strike that cost the local economy an estimated $3 billion dollars. I don't... It was on this day, December 2nd, twenty-something years back, that the world welcomed the biggest paparazzi magnet of our generation. In case you've been living under a media-impermeable rock, that magnet would be Ms. Britney Spears. As vomit-inducing as it may sound, I have to pay homage to the woman that made showing your belly button the biggest parent-cringing trend of the early 2000s. I will not deny that I have a few Britney Spears CDs in my collection of guilty pleasure albums, but over the last couple of years, irritation with the aforementioned pop star's actions has chipped awa... It seems that everyone's favorite child-collecting, tattoo-sporting actress, Angelina Jolie, has decided she finally wants to be normal. According to the BBC, Angelina said, "I don't plan to keep acting very long." Poor thing. know if I made $20 million in 2007, I would be pretty tired, too. While partaking in my daily dose of gossip the other day, I stumbled upon the new song by the super-talented "Hills" star Heidi Montag. The title of the new song, "Overdosin," really hit a discord ... err ... chord with me, as I would rather overdose on a marathon of Britney Spears circa 1999 then have to listen to this low-budget wad of crap ever again.
Last week, I packed my ego and my suitcase and headed off to Salt Lake City to audition for America's favorite "talent" contest, American Idol. Like the rest of the crazed artists who dream of nothing but lights, camera and action (or for me, MONEY, MONEY and MONEY -- just kidding it's all about the art, right?), I took the chance at the 15 minutes we all feel entitled to. Deep, deep, deep inside, I actually thought I had a shot ... But the reality went a little something like this:
