For 30 years the local sports teams have been up and down and all around giving us memorable performances and have also given us painful outing to suffer through. I know, I have been part some of those games but what we have experienced recently is hard to describe. ...
The local pro football team was supposed to show how much they have improved. Coming off their 8-8 season, the Texans were hoping to go to Pittsburgh for the opener and make a statement. They made a statement alright. They showed everyone they are not ready to compete with the big boys. The Steelers are special and the Texans are not and that is why the game and score was so lopsided. ...
It was great to see my former teammate Earl Campbell today. He's feeling more hope with his recent back surgery after a painful six years of trying to walk. Dr. Stanley Jones took out a sack full of screws and rods during the procedure while fusing his vertebra. Now Earl is gaining strength hoping to beat Bum Phillips in a game of golf in a few months. ...The preseason is over and now it's time to perform. The Houston Texans have a difficult start by opening the regular season Sunday in Pittsburgh. It's a tough way to get things going playing a solid team in that setting but the NFL is a challenging league and if they want to get noticed, winning the first one will make that happen. ... |
