We don't need Cubs fans around here!

I am sick and tired of hearing about Cub fans. There is so much being said about how they have taken over Minute Maid Park and how they support their team. They really need to head north and stay out of our city. What are they doing here anyway? Did they all jump on a jet and fly in just to see their dear little Cubbies play. They are obnoxious and they know it.

When I got into work today sitting on my computer was the Houston Chronicle sports page. Underlined were a couple of quotes from Astros manager Cecil Cooper who said all he heard in game one in their series with the Astros was a chorus of "Go Cubbies." I really wished Coop wouldn't have acknowledged them because they become relentless. We've got one in our newsroom who even named his kid Wrigley for heavens sake. The child is going to grow up being forced to cheer for a baseball club known to fail. I feel sorry for him and feel sorry for his Dad.

In fact, I visited his father, who is a great reporter about what he put on my desk. Yes it was him. It didn't take long to figure that out and I told him what he did would come back to bite him. Did the Astros win game two 4-2? I think that was the final.

Last season when the Cubs went on a roll and the Astros were out of it, I told this guy I would try to rally the troops around here to support his team. It turned out to be the most painful experience I've ever had. Chicago is referred to as the Windy City. Their precious little team on the north side gets blown around like no team I've ever seen. In fact, it seems like all their fans got blown out of the city on Lake Michigan. What are they doing down here anyway and why don't they go home?

Oh how I love it when the Astros beat them. The Cubs always end up losing in the end then their fans go into hibernation but when spring comes, they come back strong, always too strong.

amen. when we would get TBS when they carried the Braves, when the Cubs came, same thing there. When I watch a Cubs game on WGN I always turn it for that horrid "t-m-o-t-t-bg" and keep it elsewhere until the next inning as the person who "sings" is in the booth and they do not call balls or strikes or anything, just giggle with whomever.

Well.... that's why I go to Chicago when the Astros are there!!! In April I had everything but the kitchen thrown at me and we only won one game, the Friday game. The fans there are abusive. In the 3rd inning a woman threatened to kick my @$$ if I didn't shut up. I was asked to sit in my seat because I was not a "ticket season holder" and I was abstructing the view of the season ticket holders and when I went to the ladies room my Roger Clemens jersey was ripped right off of me.
I will continue to go to Chicago and sit in the same seats and root for my Houston Astros and they can beat the you know what out of me and my last two words will still be "HOUSTON ASTROS"!!!!

I went to Tuesday's game with 11 Cubs fans (well, technically 10 Cubbies and a Mets fan who sided with the majority). When we got to our seats we had a row of Chi-guys behind us.

It felt SOOO good to cheer the Good Guys on to a win with all of them siting around me!

Thanks, Giff, for saying what we've all been griping about and for letting those Cubbies know that we're proud of our [winning] club here in Houston.

WAY TO GO 'STROS!!!

Sorry to say, but in 2 weeks yet another diehard lifelong Cus fan and his family (including 3-year old Cub fan in training) will be moving to Houston for good. I already have tix for the next series and have already ordered my vanity plates with the word "Cubs" in it.

For what it's worth, Chicago fans generally think that MM Park is a great venue and we highly respect the Astros way of playing. If you want to see obnoxious check out Cubs/Sox or Cubs/Cards games. No respect there!

Giff, we DO fly around the country to follow the team. Maybe you can join me and my family (and friends) in Mesa next Spring when we all converge for a week of Spring Training with the Cubs!

What we Astros fans need to do, is ditch the "southern hospitality" crap and give to cubs fans what they give to us when we go to Chicago. Friendly confines of WF?....my a$$, they are jerks and don't respect the fact that we too paid to see our team. Chicago jerks may whine and play off the idea that it is not all cubs fans who do this... it may not be all, but it is the majority!

So, cubs families or not....don't make them welcome at Minute Maid! These jerks want to flaunt their cubs crap in our house! NEVER!

Get ready 'Stros fans....PROTECT OUR HOUSE! make them miserable and regret coming to our HOUSE!

Remember our fighting Texas motto...."Come and get it!"
