RIP Chuck Heston

Maybe it was some sort of premonition on my part, but last Friday after I finished up my real work in the pod we control KHOU.com from, I glanced at my TV and saw that "Planet of the Apes" was about to start on the AMC channel.
Now, of all the Man Movies that are required viewing for guys "Planet of the Apes" ranks in the Top 50, some would argue in the Top 20.

Notice that I reference only the original movie starring Charlton Heston, and not the silly remake with Mark Wahlberg.
As it was a long drive home, I decided to stick around the office and watch the movie as per Man Law; one must immerse oneself in great movies for men.
So, instead of leaving the office at 11:30 p.m., I scurried out the door about 2:30 a.m. oblivious to what would happen not long after.

Of course, hanging out with the guys at the cigar shop, I recounted my decision to stick at the office and watch the movie. All agreed that I did the right thing.
From that, we began reciting the best Chuck Heston lines.
"Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!" -- Planet of the Apes.
"Soylent Green is people!" -- I really like the late Phil Hartman's spoof on the movie on Saturday Night Live.
"Let my people go," from the 10 Commandments.
"Almost at the moment He died, I heard Him say, 'Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.'" - Ben Hur (In the Top 10 of Man Movies)
"From my cold, dead hands," NRA Convention.
Our conversation about Heston continued for about an hour. We determined that it was pretty much a tie between him and William Shatner for best over actor in Hollywood.
We also discussed how Michael Moore was a complete slime ball for the way he treated Heston -- who was already showing signs of Alzheimer's -- in the "Bowling for Columbine" movie.

--------------------
Man note to Michael Moore -- You're a an OK documentary maker pal, but what you did to Heston, whose passion for the 2nd Amendment you mocked, was cruel, slimy and guarantees you will spend some time in Purgatory on a hunting trip with Rosie O'Donnell and your guide Dick Cheney; and the only medical attention you will have will be the "great" doctors in Cuba you featured in "Sicko."
---------------------

It wasn't until Sunday morning that we found out that Charlton Heston had died Saturday night.
We lost one of the founding members of the modern day Man's Man club.
RIP Chuck -- "Some apes, it seems, are more equal than others."

I have to agree. The man is one of the greats in our Man's Club and Michael Moore needs to be hung from a tree. Michael Moore epitomizes everything that the Man's Club stands against. The whiney little d***. The world and Hollywood need more men like Charlton Heston and Tom Selleck. Those are guys who could make in the Cigar Shop and that is saying something. Keep up the good work. (WWJWD)

I have to disagree. Both men, Hes** and Mo** are alike. Where Hes** brandished his guns to those who go out and kill people "flaming" people saying its Ok to brandish their ill gotten weapons- and taking a course to carry one does not make it legal- in other states, just causes more headaches for "vigilantism". I am glad to see Hes** gone, One less "weapon brandisher" in the world. Had he lived by his "Godly" Hollywood words from the movies He would ComMANd a better eulogy.
At the least for Mo**, to my knowledge, does not go around "brandishing" weapons saying to the "common people... to arms".

By the way, is that a Cuban Cigar? LOL. (:

"Common people?" As in, Freedom-loving Americans? The arrogance dripping from that trifling phrase has the stench of elitism. "Vigilantism." How comforting and reassuring it must be to sit in judgement of those whom you don't agree with, espeically when they do nothing illegal, immoral or wrong (by Man's Law or any law for that matter). I'm sure there is a part of you that considers Heston, the NRA and anyone with similar Second Ammendment opinions barbaric and unrefined. We're not nearly as civilized as you are. Why carry a gun, when you are superior in all things? Seriously, from a law-abiding, card-carrying member of the NRA, and a certified minority, PLEASE DON'T CARRY A GUN. For the love of God (or whomever you superior types refer to as a Supreme Being...be it Gavin Newsome, Rosie O'Donnell, Ted Kennedy, Billary Clinton, George Soros, or Nancy Peolosi), NEVER, EVER arm yourself. I really don't want someone with a pathological superiority complex who flippantly writes things like "I'm glad Heston's gone," to be armed. For all I know, you may decide that well-educated, Heterosexual, concealed handgun licensed, Cigar smoking, fat, bald, Christian (Catholic ), Black men aren't worth keeping around and then where would I be? I'd be in the middle of a gunfight. It would be me, the Cigar shop and the NRA versus you, Michael Moore and Hollywood. My chances look good but I heard Paris Hilton is nasty with a sniper rifle. (As long as its pink and in front of a camera)
Heston was an American Icon. Oh and by the way, HE WAS AN ACTOR!!!! How insane is it to transfer the words of a character one plays to the actor himself? Mariska Hargitay (HOT by the way) isn't a cop but she plays one on TV. Is she a weapon-brandisher? Is James Gandolfini a North Jersey Mafia crime boss? Is Pacino the Devil? Nicholson the Joker? What did Denzel mean when he uttered the words "King Kong ain't got s*** on me?" NOTHING. He was acting. CHARLTON HESTON WAS NOT MOSES. But, I'm sure I'm wasting my breath. Those of superior stature, breeding and diet are naturally aware of the difference between entertainment and real life. How dare a knuckle-dragger like myself presume to offer any form of reproof?
So back to the original insensitivity. Glad he's gone? Forgive my class status, but that seems to me more barbaric than my wife and I spending quality time at a local gun range. A man has died. A family lost a brother, father, friend or husband. An industry lost a pillar and a generation lost a role-model. But you're glad he's gone. I may be a weapon-brandisher, but I have a deep seated respect for human life, even Michael Moore's though I will want documented proof of his humanity. I really get bothered when people are more concerned with saving and recycling aluminum cans than they are at respecting the life of another. I recently lost a father, and it hurts. Heston's family and loved ones are in for a terrible ordeal of grief, loss and recovery. But you're glad he's gone. My brother is a Houston Police officer with a wife and two children. I pray daily that some law-breaking animal doesn't remove him from this world. If, God- (or Nancy Peolosi) forbid something ever happened to him and someone like you blew it off by calling him a "weapon-brandisher" I would find it beyond barbaric.

However, in the name the civilized, I welcome all to come experience one of the few bastions of pure undiluted manhood left in this country. Come on down to the cigar shop where Man Law is the law of the land and the big screen is always on. I will offer a word of caution though. Mind what you say about "weapon-brandishers." At any given time, at least 80% of the clientele is armed. Still, we are always open to intelligent debate and the free exchange of ideas. And while Cubans are illegal (for now) if you come by and say hello, I'll personally buy you a Don Jose.

R.I.P. Charlton "Moses" Heston, we'll keep the torch lit.

Padron in one hand, Glock in the other.
I remain,
