Mexico City's airport, the busiest hub in Latin America, no doubt is a critical link in the spread of swine flu. Over a loud speaker, passengers about to board flights to U.S. and elsewhere are urged if you are sick "postpone your trip and visit a doctor." ...The CDC is closely watching border crossings for possible swine flu cases. Customs and Border Protection officers have a procedure in place to handle anyone who might appear with a communicable disease including isolating the person, using protective gear and calling in medical staff and experts from the CDC. ...
The CDC is investigating 7 non-fatal cases in the U.S. in Texas and California. The World Health Organization suspects swine flu killed 60. The Mexican government confirms at least 20 cases now. President Obama departed Mexico for the summit of the Americas in Trindad Tobago. While here in Mexico City, the President said he wanted to usher in a "new era" in the bilateral relationship. A new approach was clearly evident during this trip. ...People are crowded along the route from the airport hoping to catch a glimpse of President Obama. Some are perched on overpasses to try and snap a photo of the arrival of Air Force One which touched down just after 1:30 pm in Mexico City. President Obama's is on his way to Mexico city. Security is tight but the mood is hopeful here. The President's first public appearance will be at a welcoming ceremony. Then he'll spend the afternoon in series of private "working" meetings that cover a range of issues. ...The confession came first before Tamaulipas State Police and then in front of media in Nuevo Laredo. The man described as a "caretaker" during the investigation says he and Father Jesee Uresti were "an intimate couple." ... |
