Pharmacist convicted, sentenced for Medicaid fraud

A Houston pharmacist has been convicted and sentenced in a Medicaid fraud scheme, according to the Texas Attorney General's Office.

Christopher V. Tita, 43, the owner of South Gessner Pharmacy, was convicted first-degree theft.
State officials said he inflated the prices of medicine by switching to more expensive prescriptions, which weren't authorized by doctors.
He then billed Medicare for the higher prices, officials said.
Tita was sentenced to 23 years in prison and fined $10,000. He must pay $621,000 in restitution.
