Environmentalists blast lack of action on air pollution

Local environmentalists are demanding lawmakers take action on growing pollution problems.

Members of a group called GHASP said new data released by the EPA show pollution in our area is above the federal standard.
"The state has failed to take action," GHASP spokesman John D. Wilson said. "The trends have been showing that this air pollution problem is getting worse and worse, but because the federal government hasn't told the state to do anything, they haven't acted."
They also said something needs to be done about growing ozone problems.
