Council to vote on red light camera contract, day labor site money
The Houston City Council is set to take up two important votes Wednesday.
The council will vote on whether to approve a contract between the city and American traffic solutions.
If approved, that company would install the cameras at some of the city's most dangerous intersections.
About 50 red light cameras could be put up in the next few months.
City Council members will also vote Wednesday on a contract that would renew funding for a day labor site.
Critics of the funding plan say it would only promote the hiring of illegal immigrants since many of them gather there, but supporters said the day labor site is for anyone -- legal or not.
If approved, the site would get $100,000.
