Apparent misunderstanding leads to double shooting

Police are interviewing witnesses after an apparent misunderstanding led two men to shoot each other in the Heights.

It happened at the Colonial Apartments on North Durham and Glen Oaks.
One of the men said he had locked himself out of his car and was struggling to get into it. Another man walked by and assumed he was trying to steal it. Police said the passer-by shot the car owner in the stomach. Then the car owner wrestled the gun away and shot his attacker in the head.
Both men are at the hospital, but their conditions are unknown.
