HPD officer's lawsuit will cost city at least $50,000
Houston taxpayers will spend at least $50,000 fighting a lawsuit filed by that police officer who criticized the Houston Police Department's chase policy.
Houston City Council on Wednesday has approved spending that amount on hiring outside council to fight the suit filed by Officer Tom Nixon.
Nixon was taken off the streets after he publicly criticized the chase policy.
Mayor Bill White's administration originally asked for $100,000 but council members objected.
