I am so glad Gabe has been found. I had a chance to meet and play with Gabe over the summer while visiting Allie (my mother), and her other training dogs. Gabe was awesome. My mom also had the help of her 2 grandchildren 2 summers ago, (pictures can been seen on her website, myservicedog.com). My children loved Gabe and loved helping my mother train him. As a kid, I watched my mom train dogs, and sometimes fought for attention against them, if i could just get a drink out of the cooler like they could, or follow directions as well as they do. My mother is AWESOME with any dog. It is amazing the power she has with animals. I currently have a dog she trained and everyone that meets her, thinks she is just the smartest dog. She is but she had the help of my mother training her. When I heard Gabe was missing, I was sad for my mom and for the girl who had Gabe. I called my mom on several occasions and she was asleep, due to being out long hours looking for Gabe. She has so much dedication in each dog she trains. And having him home I can hear the relief in her voice and know that she is not filled with grief he is gone. This goes to show us, that if you see a dog on the side of the road, pick it up and at least try to find it's owner, you never know it may be someone's eyes, ears, or life. Thanks to all who helped find him, and most of all the family that stopped and picked him up.
Remember the dogs that are people's eyes, ears, legs, or life are trained by Allie, founder and operator of a company called myservicedog.com.
They run off ONLY donations. If you have not already please visit the website, view pictures, read amazing stories, and most of all make a donation that will save someone's life, or enable them to get out in the world and resume "normal" life. If it were not for people like my mom (Allie), some people would still be prisoners in their own homes. If you are looking for a cause to donate to, please visit the website and make donations there.

Great story with a happy ending! Glad it resolved the way it did. By thwe way Ms. Allie Keaton is also the dog trainer (canine eduction instructor) at PETCO in Conroe at I-45 and Loop 336. If you saw what she can do for service dogs imagine what she could do for your pet!

Allie has an incredible rapport with dogs and they respond to her as if she is the Pied Piper, it is pretty amazing to see what they willingly do after she trains them.
This nonprofit group serves an important purpose and needs support. I've met some of the service dog owners who have various health concerns and they all say how much help their dogs have been to them and what a positive difference they have made in their daily lives.
Also, I'm glad Gabe is home, he is a sweetie.
It was good to see this group mentioned on the news, they do a great service and need to be recognized and supported by the public and by charitable organizations and companies.

My Service Dog, Book, is also trained through My Service Dog, Inc. and Allie, and though Gabe's a Poodle and Book's a Doberman, they perform many of the same tasks.
If you've met Gabe, you know he's just a sweet little Romeo, and if you'd seen him with Delayna the first two times they met, you'd know that Gabe chose Delayna, not the other way around. I think it was definitely God or Fate or whatever you believe in that the two of them got matched. It's happened before, it'll happen again. Gabe is going to live a long happy life with his Delayna, and no wreck could ever change that.
Before having a Service Dog, I had been reluctant to leave my house for almost a year, and I hadn't left my home for almost 5 months without it causing a big fight with my husband. I didn't want to risk having a panic attack in front of people. I didn't want them to stare at me and I didn't want their pity.
Now people stare at me because I have a beautiful dog. People want to talk to me, want to ask about the dog, not just "Are you okay?" over and over. He's an amazing conversation starter. And, though there are lots and lots of businesses and people who don't know about these wonderful animals, and so try to deny us access, the confrontations are all made worthwhile every time my dog alerts me and I avoid what seems like the thousandth public humiliation.
Book is one of the best things to ever happen to my life and somewhere, someone else needs a four-legged angel. Donations to My Service Dog, Inc. go to medical upkeep, feeding, housing, and specialized training for dogs that will help their own special someones. These things are not cheap, but as the saying goes, every little bit helps. Gabe is only one of many, but he sure is a great one. Thank you for your prayers to get him home safe. Someone was listening!

In 3 months, I've gone from knowing nothing about Service Dogs, to researching, to finding www.myservicedog.com and Allie Keaton. My daughter is 19 and she was correct in thinking that a service dog would allow her to get out into the community, hold a job and maybe someday go to a movie! Her having a wreck and losing Gabe has been a trial I never want to go through again. The police, humane society, community, press, Allie Keaton, Curtis, Barbara and tracking dog, Annie, and lots of prayer warriers were there with unwavering support.
A lot of people learned a lot about Service Dogs through the publicity in searching for and finding Gabe.
There are three on-going issues I'd like to remind you of. One is that organizations like MyServiceDog.com are non-profit and need funding. I'd love to hand them the amount I know they already have invested in Gabe and for his continued training. Second is that most families with a disabled family member don't have ready cash in large amounts...or small. My daughter and I set up an eBay store and are taking donations of items to sell to support the organization. We will try some grant writing and if you have other ideas, let us know! Third is that we now know first-hand what a Service Dog partnership means to our family. We've made a family committment to continue medical treatment and therapy for my daughter and to continue to support MyServiceDog.com so that other individuals and families can experience the life change that we have.
I want to thank you all again for you support!

I also have a service dog trained by Allie Keaton at My Service Dog, Inc. He detects and warns me before I have a seizure and he protects me from injury during and after the seizures. He is a true blessing and I am really grateful to Allie for her help. I still need sponsors/donors to help pay for his training. All service dogs require specialized training that is very expensive and many dissabled people cannot afford to pay for it, so if you want to help dissabled people get a service dog you should make a donation to My Service Dog, Inc at myservicedog.com. We are so glad Gabe was returned home. My dog Clancy makes it possible for me to be more independent.

I'm a friend of the My Service Dog family and a volunteer. I was part of the search party for Gabe, and it was hard work by everybody involved, but it worked! We got Gabe back where he belongs, none the worse for wear. Between the media, volunteers, members of the pet community, and just good wishes from so many people that had some good Karma coming their way, we accomplished something that is rarely done, finding that lost, loved one. It makes me sad to think of all the dogs and people that are not reunited. Thanks to everyone involved and remember My Service Dog Inc. is largely supported by donations. It wasn't just a coincidense that a family needing the same type of service dog rescued our Gabe, just think on it a while. Thank you all!

FABULOUS!!! I am so glad that he has been found. I know that MY SERVICE DOG is an outstanding organization because I have worked with Allie and the dogs on a couple of occasions. I was so sad when I heard that Gab was missing because I know and have seen what these dogs mean to their recipients. Another happy ending!!!!!!!

How wonderful - so glad to read that Gabe is back home with his family (15 miles - I bet he is a tired boy!)!! I know his family is totally thrilled!! And thanks to you Melody, for doing all you did (although it doesnt surprise me that you would go to such lengths to help a furbaby in need - even one you have never met!!)!!

YEA! Thanks for the update! I taped print-outs on my car window, since I work in Beaumont, and had a print out on my desk at work, and told everyone I know that drives that direction! I'm so glad that I can take them down because he's safe!! YEA Gabe!!!!!!
