Our beloved 7 yr old Siamese had to be put to sleep due to renal failure in mid January of this year. While his regular food was a dry Science Diet that has not been recalled, we occasionally gave him and my other cat the 3 oz cans. My other cat seems fine, no symptoms like Simon who was extremely thirsty had lost weight over a one week period and was passing more urine then normal. I have ask for a list of types of cans I purchased from Petco but haven't heard from them yet. We are still not over the loss of our cat and all this has brought all the heart ache back. will be taking my other cat in for bloodwork to find out if she is OK. Thank You,Carol Trahan

I would like to provide some dog and cat food information with alternative foods that aren't on the recalled lists. These foods are human grade with no fillers or by products. Check out your pet's ingredients, corn is a high allergen food and unnecessary in your pet's diet.
The dog food analysis website ranks your food on a 1 to 6 star scale and gives you reasons why they are ranked that way. I found these sites very informative. My pets eat Innova Evo. Some may claim that they cost more, but since there are no fillers in the food, you feed them less.

The daily tv news continues to report no more than 20 deaths nationwide of animals affected by tainted pet food. My friend in Dallas area contacted her vet since she had fed some of the food listed on the recall. While none of her dogs showed signs of illness, she was concerned about how long it might take for symptoms to appear. Her vet told her he had five patients all affected by the bad food and didn't expect any of them to survive. He also told her simply to watch her dogs. My point is if one vet in one city in one state has five patients that will not survive, how can it be reported that 15-16 dogs nationwide have died. When I first heard this, I assumed that the dead animals must have been old or already sick for them to have died from this food. Now I don't believe this. I applaud the people who have lost pets and rather than sue the manufacturer, choose to lobby for more quality control. I have another friend who has 11 lhasas who all got sick. All were vomiting for days and some had to be rehydrated with iv's for several days. Vet first said Giardia, then bad food, then human bacteria, etc. Over a period of ten days, diagnosis changed four times. All the vet could do was treat the symptoms. Fortunately the girl had the resources to take all 11 dogs to the vet and all survived. They too had been fed some of the products that were on the recall list, but had been taken off it before the list was published. I just feel it must be more serious than the news is reporting as far as number of fatalities. I count my blessings daily that none of my dogs were affected.

I was wondering if there has been anyone who has been able to contact Menu Foods. I am currently requesting my history of purchases from Petco for I lost my cat of 12 to 13 years due to renial failure. It hit me and my husband hard!! And I want to see what Menu Foods is going to do about it, especially when I found a report stating that they delayed on recalling the foods. I had purchased ours sometime back, and when I feed to one of our cats~Nelix, several days later we had to put him down for renial failure. Our vet kept asking if we had antifreeze or anything else that could have caused the renial failure. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly helpful!!

MY CAT LOVES THE SCIENCE DIET BEEF & GRAVY, I WENT TO PETSMART AND THEY SAID THEY HAD PULLED ALL THE BAD CAT FOOD OFF THE COUNTER. SO I WENT AHEAD AND PURCHASED THE SAME CAT FOOD AGAIN, NOW I THINK I SHOULD HAVE PURCHASED SOMETHING ELSE. DO YOU THINK I SHOULD TAKE IT BACK AND PURCHASE ANOTHER KIND. I AM 80 YEARS OLD AND CANNOT AFFORD SOME OF THE EXPENSIVE CAT FOOD. i ALSO HAVE A STRAY CAT THAT COMES TO MY HOUSE AND I FEED IT THE FRISKIES 30 CENTS A CAN. IS THIS O.K.
