Update on Dustin: a neglected Weimaraner is looking much better

I had posted this entry about Dustin the Weimaraner two weeks ago. He was rescued at the beginning of August and looked BAD. Really bad.

Dustin then

Dustin now!

Can you even BELIEVE this is the same dog? Dustin is well on his way to recovery. Click here for full updates and a personal message from this lucky dog.

All in all, this is just a wonderful tribute to all the dog rescuers out there - be they breed rescuers, mutt rescuers or cat rescuers. They deal with the heartache, the "before" pictures, the dogs and cats that smell and have mats in their hair, fleas and heartworms. They deal with the poop and the pee. But, their commitment gives many of us lucky dog owners the opportunity to bring in a new member of the family.

I think I'll go home and snuggle my rescue doggies tonight.

I should correct one thing I wrote here, Tala our puppy was not homeless, she was gave to us by a woman that I met at the vet's office. She had a home, but the woman was giving away these puppies. I'm so used to saying they were homeless, but Tala wasn't homeless, and now we love her...

He is so pretty now, I seen the pictures before and they should be so proud of how he looks now. The before pictures look like how Baby looked when she came here, she was brought here and put in our fence by a friend, that said "I'm not taking no for an answer, you can help this dog and you will!" The best thing that friend ever did for me, though at the time I didn't know it.
It's very hard to care for animals in this condition I know, our Baby was an older dog when she came here, but she lived here for 8 yrs. before she died. She was in bad shape, she was a Dalmatian, and turned out to be one of the smartest, best dogs we ever had here. She's buried outside by the tree she chased squirrels every day. Baby's bones were showing and she had a collar on but her flesh had grown around the collar,it was so tight when she was found. She was coughing and choking. She couldn't even bark, she just coughed. She had heartworm's and she had to have leg surgery after he brought her here, she was so thankful to us, she turned out to be the best dog ever, after we spent a lot of money on her, but it was worth it for the many yrs. of happiness she brought to our family.
Tabby cat was in the middle of the highway, very tiny kitten, wet and cold. This is strange how she came to me, because I pulled over and as soon as I opened the door to my truck this little kitten runs to me, I thought we would both get hit by a big truck coming. She set on my console all the way home wet and shaking, very thankful to be out of the rain and cold. She's been with us three years now, she's a big part of our family and we all love her. My husband was so mad when he went into our bathroom and met this kitten that was so ugly looking in there, but now she is a beauty and a very large cat. She is his favorite now and he loves her by the way..ha. She is just a DSH Tabby cat, you know the kind you see everywhere because people don't spay and neuter their animals, but she has a personality like no other. We have three dogs, two cats and every animal except one cat was homeless. The one that wasn't homeless was bought by my daughter from a breeder. He thinks he's better than the rest of us sometimes, but not Tabby she loves us so much and is so thankful for her happy home.
Every animal that lives here are always spayed and neutered, I'm not a breeder, never will be, so they are not here to be bred, they are our family.
Thanks Lisa, I love your blog...
Sorry to write so much, I don't know why I did it..
