The Pits are going up for auction..

Turns out the owner of the seized Pit Bull pups from Liberty County did not post bond. That means they're going up for auction. I won't even discuss the possible consequences. Many of you have posted about it already.

From the Houston Humane Society:
"In the matter of the pit bull puppies from Liberty County, defendant Julie Laban did not post the $10,000 bond yesterday which would have entitled her to an appeal. She now no longer has a chance at regaining custody of the puppies, which are currently being cared for at the Houston Humane Society. The HHS and Liberty County officials are working together to come up with the best solution for the future of the puppies.

We'll give you more info as soon as we hear anything from (Liberty Assistant County Attorney) Mark Beausoleil or Liberty County."

Why were the dogs confiscated in the first place if they are going right back on the street without regard to who is getting them?

At least if they went into rescue, a home check, vet check, spay/neuter, references, etc would be performed before these animals were handed over.

By allowing them to be auctioned, any idiot with a wad of cash will grab these puppies and put them right back where they came from. SO, why did they murder all the others if this is the final decision for the puppies? Makes no sense at all!

I want to know what is meant by the statement above "The HHS and Liberty County officials are working together to come up with the best solution for the future of the puppies." Does this mean there is still a chance they will be spayed/neutered prior to being adopted??!! I wonder if the adopters will even be screened in any manner to determine good homes for the pups!! Hopefully the judge will use good common sense on these issues!!

I would like to know what happen to the other puppies. There are only about 23 of them alive out of 300? There were originally 68 or so over the age of 6 months and now only 23 are alive. I was told they all died of parvo, yea right I bet HHS!!! So were around 277 puppies all killed at the same time?
