Do you wish you could do more to help homeless animals?

As BARC moves forward and commits to increasing adoptions, more volunteers will be needed to help staff adoptions events. Volunteers are needed to counsel potential adopters, care for the animals, transport animals to and from off-site events, and help with set-up and take-down. Whether you help a few hours a week or a few hours a month...every moment is appreciated! Volunteering is rewarding, fun and it's good for your karma!!

Here are some contacts if you'd like to get involved:

BARC email Danielle Joseph-White at danielle.joseph-white@cityofhouston.net

FRIENDS OF BARC email Michelle Bramblett at volunteersmb@friendsofbarc.org

WEEKENDS AT BARC email Lance or James at HoustonAPI@gmail.com

Pictured with this story, MOJO. The word mojo is defined as a charm to bring you luck. What could be better mojo than adopting a shelter dog? Our MOJO is a handsome black Lab mix. His coat actually has a second color to it -- maybe gray or brown, or maybe he just needs a bath? MOJO is a big loverboy who loves to snuggle up and share hugs and kisses. He has a great future as a couch potato. He's also something of a goofball and will make you laugh every day. He's a gentle soul, friendly and happy. MOJO is about 2 years old and 50 pounds, heartworm negative, and waiting to charm you into taking him home. Look for MOJO at BARC in South D Ward, I.D. A0997316.

And, LILLY! This cat's no wallflower!! As soon as you walk in the room prepare to be greeted by LILLY. In addition to being quite talkative, LILLY is also a loud purr-er. She'll want to jump in your lap and cuddle or have you play with her and her toys. LILLY has super-soft gray and white medium length fur and a long fluffy tail. This sweet little girl is barely 3 months old but she's already spayed and can go home with you today. Look for LILLY at BARC in the open adoption room in the North Building, I.D. A0998978.

HAPPY TAILS...IT WAS A SLOW WEEK FOR CATS BUT A COUPLE OF DOGS FOUND GREAT HOMES AT WAGS TO WHISKERS!

SUGAR the beautiful brown pit mix was adopted by a young couple who can't stop singing her praises! They've already started a video diary of her new life and are sharing updates on Facebook. SUGAR couldn't have found a better home.

STUBBS the brown and white pittie also went home with a young couple who were eager to save a shelter dog. They were instantly charmed by STUBBS and couldn't wait to get him home. We hope they have a long and happy life together!

Very special thanks to all the caring people who come to BARC and adopt pit bulls. These dogs suffer so much and deserve every ounce of love and kindness they can get.

What beautiful furbabies! I hope and pray that they find their loving forever homes soon! Congrats to Sugar and Stubbs on their new homes! (I'd love more information to see Sugar on Facebook.)
