SPECIAL LABOR DAY WAGS TO WHISKERS ADOPTION EVENT! Come spend Saturday with the STARZ!
BARC is full and there are many, many loving dogs and cats looking for homes. When you adopt oneyou savea two because it opens acage for another animal. On Saturday you can adopt a new pet for only $27.50 -- That's half BARC's regular adoption fee (or two for one, if you think of it that way!). Plus, free hot dogs and soft drinks! Come see the new BARC. The staff has been working hard to make BARC better and they would love to help you save one of their animal friends. BROOKE-ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A COUCH COMPANION? BROOKE is your girl! This gentle Lab mix has her silly, frisky moments, but she much prefers to be snuggled up beside you chilling out. She enjoys long walks, and she is very laid-back and friendly. Since black dogs tend to get overlooked at shelters, one of the volunteers has given BROOKE a pretty pink collar so you will notice her and see that she is special. BROOKE is about 3 years old and 40 pounds. She is spayed, microchipped and heartworm negative. Look for BROOKE at BARC in D Ward South, I.D. A0997350. FLO-THINKS THAT CATS ARE SMARTER THAN DOGS. You know why? Because cats are independent thinkers. They decide when and what they want to do. You can't make a cat come running for some lame toy or gimmicky treat. She's not chasing anything and bringing it to you. They are neat and clean. They do not slobber on their toys or track mud all over the house. And they get an A+ for creativity when it comes to making things to play with and inventing new games. FLO is a 5 year old spayed tuxedo cat that likes to play and hang out with other cats. She appreciates a sturdy scratching pole and a good meal. She's not above a cuddle or a snuggle either, and she fits in your lap better than a dog. Look for FLO at BARC in the open adoption room in the North Building, I.D. A0993603. HAPPY TAILS - Last week was a slow week for our STARZ, so we hope everyone will comeout this holiday weekend and adopt a friend for life! CORNFLAKE the orange tabby cat was taken in by a rescue group. BOLA the beautiful German Shepherd was adopted at BARC by a family with a little boy. She has a new buddy to play with! THE ADOPTION FEE AT BARC IS ONLY $55 (except this Saturday when it's $27.50!) -- THAT'S THE BEST DEAL IN TOWN! That includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, and the first year's city license if the animal will reside in the City of Houston. For more information please visit BARC's website at: www.houstontx.gov/barc/index.html. BARC is the City of Houston Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care.
