This is disgusting. 4th largest city in the nation, behaving as a 3rd world country. This deplorable treatment of animals must stop. These poor creatures are innocent victims of a dysfuntional city government.

I cannot believe that a city with the resourses that Houston has cannot find a way to stop the destruction of innocent animals. Surely there are alternatives to this horrid alternative.

Pennee,
There ARE alternatives! Visit these websites to find out how other communities are stopping the killing and find out how Houston CAN STOP IT. But we must DEMAND it of our shelters or things will never change.

Want to make a difference? Adopt from BARC or volunteer. Spay or neuter your pet. The city has finally started taking steps to improve BARC and now is a great time to be part of the changes that are happening there. Visit BARC's website to learn more: www.houstonbarc.com.

Be part of the solution: Adopt from BARC! Come to BARC's weekly Wags to Whiskers Family Adoption Day Saturday from noon to 4 pm. All adoptions are half off the regular fee: $27.50 gets you a spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, licensed dog or cat. Plus, free hot dogs and soft drinks! New volunteers welcome! Come meet the staff and volunteers who are working hard to make BARC a better place.
