Spay/Houston recently received a $225,000 grant to open a high volume, high quality, low cost spay/neuter clinic in the Greenspoint area.

This clinic will be able to perform 20,000 surgeries per year to proactively fight the area's dire pet overpopulation problem.

The clinic will offer spay/neuter services at a reduced rate to the general public. For those with transportation challenges, Spay/Houston will be offering an outreach shuttle service in order to pick up owner pets and drive them into the clinic. Spay/Houston's goal is to reduce the pet overpopulation in greater Houston. To view a list of services and hours of operation, visit www.spayhouston.org.

"We are thrilled to be working toward a more humane Houston," said Deana Sellens, Executive Director of Spay/Houston. "We hope that our clinic can become a model for other agencies across the country. We are looking forward to mentoring others."

Adopt A Cat was established in 1994 with the mission to rescue, rehabilitate and provide shelter/sanctuary for homeless felines until safe and caring permanent homes are found. Adopt A Cat maintains a no kill policy. We also work to lessen the problem of pet overpopulation by spaying and neutering its rescues, by educating the public about the importance of sterilizing companion animals, and by providing information on low cost spay/neuter programs. Spay/Houston will further our mission by providing high quality, affordable spay/neuter solutions for cats and dogs to the general public; developing community education programs with a focus on the community's higher priority spay/neuter needs; and providing outreach transportation to areas not serviced by a low cost spay/neuter solution. This sounds wonderful. So much better than the icky way some of the less advantaged dogs and cats pay with their lives.

Thank you!!
