Back to school with BARC STARZ!

It's every parent's favorite time of year and every kid's least favorite...back to school. So thisw week we thought we'd have a little fun and see how some of our BARC STARZ did in school!

BLANCA - VARSITY SOCCER TEAM. BLANCA enjoys all sports but particularly excels at soccer (or football, as some call it). She's always ready for a game and looking for new players. BLANCA is a young pit mix with a smooth white coat and brown spots. She gets an A+ in Grooming because her coat is so easy to take care of. BLANCA is friendly and possibly housebroken, so we'll give her an A for Sportsmanship but an Incomplete in House Training until she completes her final exam. Look for BLANCA at BARC in South A Ward, I.D. A0997067.

CURTIS - LOOK WHAT I MADE IN ARTS & CRAFTS! CURTIS has a bed made of a cardboard box and an old baby blanket. He thinks this is pretty clever and would like to make some for all the cats at BARC, but he needs supplies. If you have some shallow boxes or heavy cardboard lids (like the kind that reams of office paper come in), or any old towels or blankets, please drop them off at BARC. CURTIS is a 4 month old neutered orange tabby. He and his friends like hanging out in these homemade cat beds, sleeping, playing or just hiding when the world seems like too much. Look for CURTIS at BARC in the open adoption room in the North Building, I.D. A0995949.

See all our BARC STARZ for this week!

HAPPY TAILS - SO MANY GOOD UPDATES SINCE LAST WEEK!

To begin with, our favorite girl BAILEY was finally saved from BARC by our friends at TREAT 'EM RIGHT RESCUE! BAILEY is still available for adoption, but while she waits she is in a luxury boarding kennel getting all the special treatment she deserves. Contact TREAT 'EM RIGHT at 713-861-1155 or www.cooperanimalclinic.com/TREATEMRIGHT.html

Our favorite kitties MARY KATE and ASHLEY were rescued by Michele with BUSTER'S FRIENDS. MARY KATE can be seen at the PetSmart on Westheimer at Dunvale, 8380 Westheimer Rd., Houston, TX 77063.

MIDNIGHT the Black Lab and LAVERNE the silly brindle puppy were saved by our friends at PUP SQUAD ANIMAL RESCUE. PUP SQUAD regularly saves litters of puppies and their moms from BARC and gives them healthy, safe places to grow and thrive. If you are interested in adopting a BARC puppy, MIDNIGHT, LAVERNE or any of their rescued adult dogs, visit PUP SQUAD's website at www.pupsquad.org

Finally, PENNALOPE the Chocolate Lab was adopted at BARC, as was KYRA the sweet pittie girl from last week. Congratulations to all these dogs and cats and thank you to all the adopters and rescuers!
