When you adopt from a shelter you save more than one life! Check out this week's BARC STARZ and find a friend for life.
You may have read in the paper or seen on TV that BARC is currently going through some big changes. This is great news for all the cats and dogs that wind up impounded there. In the meantime, the trucks keep coming and people keep bringing more animals every day. It comes down to math: there are only so many kennels to hold a never-ending amount of stray and abandoned animals. That's where you come in! Every time an animal is adopted, fostered or pulled by a rescue group it makes space for a new animal coming in. So when you adopt one dog or cat you're really helping two -- the one you take home and the one coming in that has an open kennel. BAILEY'S TIME IS UP! DON'T LET BAILEY DIE AT BARC AFTER BEING DUMPED AT BARC BY HER OWNER! Brindle pits are always the hardest to find homes for. BAILEY would have been gone a long time ago except that she caught the attention of a BARC employee who begged us to try to find a good home for her. BAILEY is very sweet and friendly -- a big goofball. She knows basic commands like sit, is good on a leash and seems to be housebroken. We had a couple of trainers check her out and all agreed she is smart, well-behaved and easy to love. Please consider giving BAILEY a second chance and the forever home she deserves. BAILEY is a little over a year old, heartworm negative, spayed, microchipped and current on all her shots. Look for BAILEY at BARC in C Ward South, ID A0990853. WINCHELL..."LOOK INTO MY EYES..." WINCHELL is going to try to hypnotize you so you will come to BARC and adopt him. Or maybe he's trying to bend a spoon using telekinesis. It's hard to tell what cats are thinking. For sure, WINCHELL is thinking about getting out of BARC and having a home of his own. WINCHELL is a black and white shorthair, just a little over a year old. As a bonus, his kennel card says WINCHELL has three toes on his front foot. Now, there's a conversation-starter! Look for WINCHELL at BARC in the South Building Cat Adoption Ward, I.D. A0990040. See all this week's BARC STARZ HAPPY TAILS... Just as we were loading up the dogs to go to the Meet & Greet last week we heard MUFFIE was in the process of being adopted. Sure enough, volunteer Trish was helping a young couple add MUFFIE to their family. MUFFIE had been at BARC longer than any other dog so we are super-happy this sweet girl found her Forever Home! SISTER the pretty blonde Lab mix was adopted at BARC, and we hear our other blonde LUCIA was adopted at Highland Village. Thanks to our great cat fosters little LADY ELAINE and GENEVIEVE have been saved from BARC. NARA the fetch enthusiast and KING the senior German Shepherd were taken in by Pet Connect and are still available for adoption at the Highland Village Pet Adoptions storefront. Come see her Saturday & Sunday at 4056 Westheimer next to Williams Sonoma. THE ADOPTION FEE AT BARC IS ONLY $55 -- THAT'S THE BEST DEAL IN TOWN! That includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, and the first year's city license if the animal will reside in the City of Houston. For more information please visit BARC's website at: www.houstontx.gov/health/BARC/index.html. BARC is the City of Houston Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care. I hope & pray that someone gives Bailey a second chance at life! She's beautiful!
Hope & prayers for Winchell and the others looking for their loving forever homes!
I wish I could save them all.
Save a life...Spay & Neuter!
Vera at BARC was adopted at the last minute at the meet and greet last week only to be returned two days later because they didn't "have time" to take care of her. Vera is a dark brindle mix and is the sweetest girl just like Bailey. Her time is very near, please go and check these two out as well as all the others. If you can't adopt, consider fostering. Veterinary care will be provided if you foster.
Hope & prayers for Vera too. It just breaks my heart all of the furbabies in shelters due to people not spaying and neutering, not having time, the economy, and whatever other reason. It's so sad that so many precious lives are lost every day.
THANK YOU CHANNEL 11! Your promotion of the Wags to Whiskers event helped 60 animals get out of BARC alive Sunday! 54 adopted, 6 fostered.
YEA!!!!! Answered prayers!!!!
