The Houston SPCA is pleased to announce that the 2009 Animal Talk Luncheon will take place on Thursday, May 7th at Houston's Premier Boutique Hotel ZaZa. This years' featured speaker is Texas Legend and Prospective Gubernatorial Candidate Kinky Friedman. Kinky first hit the campaign trail in the 2006 election and as of Tuesday, April 14th announced he is back on the saddle declaring he intends to run "a serious campaign" and "play by the rules." A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin he has encompassed an eclectic, colorful career of genres from music to politics.

In true Kinky style, this luncheon will be a spontaneous presentation, as he will be unscripted and off the cuff. Kinky will share how his undying love and passion for animals lead him to open Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch near Kerrville, Texas. The Utopia ranch is a non-profit rescue, which takes in and cares for strays, abused, and homeless animals.
