... We're not lion. Traffic in and around Hermann Park can be a real bear during Spring Break. The Houston Zoo can promise you a naturally wild experience every time you visit, but during Spring Break they would prefer that your trip to the Zoo is not filled with traffic snarls. If you're heading to the Park over Spring Break, here are some tips on where to park and alternative transportation modes.

Ride METRO. Save $1 when you ride METRO to the Houston Zoo. Present any current bus or METRORail ticket at the Zoo admission booth to receive your discount. Please, one offer per person. Not valid with any other offer.

The METRO bus system or METRORail are both good alternatives to stalking the endangered parking space in Hermann Park. METRORail riders can catch the train at the Fannin South Park and Ride lot located at 1604 West Bellfort between Knight and Fannin. Or, park downtown and catch METRORail at any of the downtown rail stations.

There are two METRORail stations that serve the Zoo and Hermann Park; Hermann Park/Sunset at Fannin and Sunset, and Memorial Hermann Hospital/Houston Zoo on Fannin between North MacGregor and Ross Sterling.

For more information about riding METRORail visit www.ridemetro.org. For directions from METRORail stations to the Zoo visit the Zoo on the Web at www.houstonzoo.org/spring-break.

Additional parking. If your Spring Break experience includes the traditional road trip, consider carpooling and parking outside of Hermann Park. Convenient parking is available at the Memorial Hermann Medical Plaza at 6400 Fannin. For parking rates and schedules, please visit the Houston Zoo on the Web at www.houstonzoo.org/spring-break. Three garage entrances offer access from either Fannin or Main Street. If you are visiting the Zoo during the week, please park on Level 7 or above and take the elevators to Level One for street access. The Zoo's West Entry is located on North MacGregor across from Ben Taub Hospital, a short 7 minute walk from the garage.

If you must drive into Hermann Park during the peak of the Spring Break season, here are some helpful tips and reminders:

·During Spring Break, special traffic enforcement will be in effect in Hermann Park. Golf Course Drive will be one way from Montrose Blvd. to the North MacGregor exit of the Park. For additional information, please see the Houston Parks and Recreation Department Web site at www.houstontx.gov/parks/hermannpark.html#A1.

·HPD officers will be directing traffic at all intersections on MacGregor, Fannin and Golf Course Drive; please be patient and courteous.

·Be sure to check traffic conditions before you go. Information is available at www.houstontranstar.org.
