Hello BARC STARZ Readers! First we've got a few updates for you.
Thanks to 2 great fosters for coming forward for Bertie and Sammy! They are both still available for adoption so feel free to email us if you were interested! Thanks to all of you who sent contributions for Beauty and a special thank you to everyone who offered to help Dynamite. We are excited that he is now "Peyton" and living in his new home! This is all due to you, great readers, reading and forwarding every week. We love ya for it! We are also excited to report that BARC STARZ is on the web! Thanks to a very good friend of Friends of BARC and BARC (Jenni Rebecca Stephenson), we now have a blog at www.barcstarz.wordpress.com and www.twitter.com/BARCStarz. Please check these blogs for updates during the week! We also are set up in in FaceBook. If you have a FaceBook account, search for the group Friends of BARC and join up! And if you are not a FaceBook member yet, its easy (and free!) to create an account. Our 90 day dog of the week is Goldilocks (A885826). We are all so surprised she has made it to this spot without being adopted, since she's one of the sweetest, prettiest girls we know! Goldie is a lab/shepherd/oh-heck-we-don't-know-what mix but she's very sweet & gentle, about 50 lbs full grown. She's about 2 years old, heartworm negative, spayed and up to date on her vaccines. She gets along well with other dogs and all the people we've seen! She's not especially hyper but she'd love a good walk with you...then a snuggle on the couch will be just fine. Her 90 days are up at the end of this month. If you can help adopt or foster Goldilocks, please contact Kathy at kdeffebach@sbcglobal.net. Elizabeth had a hard time getting Miss Bugsy to stand still for a picture. Bugsy was so happy to get outside in the warm sunshine and soft grass! She was running super-fast in big circles, sneaking up every few rounds to give Elizabeth a quick kiss. The only time she stopped was for a belly rub. Bugsy is barely 20 pounds and probably full-grown although she maintains her puppy playfulness. Bugsy's been at BARC since May--hard to believe because she looks like a Pug mix! If you're looking for a fun small dog with lots of energy Bugsy's your gal! Email Elizabeth at evitek@yahoo.com for more about Bugsy. Bugsy is spayed and ready to adopt in A Ward, as of Tuesday night. And she's heartworm negative! Meet sweet Charlie! He is so sweet and just wants to be loved, 100% house trained and so well behaved, He is 3yrs old. - He is awaiting his HW treatment in a few weeks after he is done his meds for a minor resp infection. I love this sweet boy! Contact Amanda at 832-724-8406 or chioabj@yahoo.com for more information! Cricket has come a long way from getting bailed out of BARC as a mom with her pups! She's now a delightful indoor companion with nice manners and she's a sweet, laid back kinda gal. She's friendly and affectionate and really wants to be your buddy. She likes both men and women equally as well, so she's fine in a home with either or both. She's not high energy, so she's good with a morning walk, then she's happy to nap while you're at work. She's not destructive, doesn't require crating and she's housetrained. She's happy to smile and follow you around the house when you get home from work then chill out and watch some t.v. Cricket's foster mom has been working on her basic obedience and she's doing very well. If you are interested in a forever companion well on her way to good manners, then Cricket might be the girl for you! She's been treated for heartworms and now on preventative, she's current on her vaccinations, spayed and microchipped. Please visit www.adoptapointer.com for additional information and photos of Cricket and contact her foster mom at marygoldsby@earthlink.net for more information. Joplin is a 6 month old Basset. She is a cuddler that just adores people, any people, she loves them all! She gets along with cats and will play with any dog she meets. She is true to her breed and will follow her nose but is just a love bug. If you want to know more about her, please email her foster mom at elimedwick@yahoo.com Dewey is a wonderful Red Doberman mix puppy about 6 months old. Poor Dewey went through so much in his early days and was very sick as a young pup---but look at him now! He's turned into a beautiful boy who is ready for his forever home. He was in foster care for a while but is now at BARC ready to go home with YOU! Contact Bonnie at bford@globalexponent.com for more information about Dewey! Here's sweet Sadie! Sadie is a little female terrier who weighs in at exactly 19.5 lbs full grown. The vets estimate she's about 2 years old and full grown. She very gentle and smart and walks great on a leash. She was a good momma to two little pups who have been adopted and now she's ready for a new family of her own! She is house trained, playful, very smart, quiet (since she is a terrier mix, some terriers are yappy, yet she is very quiet). She loves to jog or walk and would be a great jogging companion. She loves other dogs and adults as well as children. (However, she likes to chase cats...so we probably would not recommend her to a home with cats.) She's been fully vaccinated, spayed and is heartworm negative. For more information about adopting Sadie, email ejbilbrey@yahoo.com. Meet Metro! He has a special story to tell. A kind volunteer found him at the Metro Rail on way to work. She turned him in, but could not stop worrying about him...so, with a little teamwork we've got him in a safe spot but what he really needs is a new home of his own! Kennel life is no place for a young pup! Metro is gentle and sweet and would be a great family dog. He is good with kids and other dogs and VERY calm for a young pup! He's been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. All he needs now is a home of his own! If you are interested in learning more about Metro, contact Lori at 832.623.3432 (cell), 713.758.2991 (wk), lclancy@velaw.com and lalaclancy@gmail.com. Finally, there are two of the terrier/poodle mix puppies left for adoption! Meet M&M and Snickers, both males and now at almost 8 weeks of age. Both pups are very sweet and doing well with their housetraining. They will be 15-20 lb. dogs when full grown. Email kdeffebach@sbcglobal.net for more information! Email the contact of each photo to determine their location (some of these animals are in foster care and some are at the shelter). BARC is located at: BARC (Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care) Also, please invite your friends and family to come by and see the dogs we have available for adoption this Saturday, July 26 from 9 am - 4 pm. at River Oaks Elementary, 2008 Kirby Drive. We are out on the front lawn and you can't miss us! We will have a large selection of breeds, sizes and personalities including lots of small dogs. *All dogs have been spayed/neutered, micro-chipped and are current on their vaccinations. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |
