Mabel, the rescue dog who escaped from a local kennel, has been found and is safe!
Mabel's foster Mom had to leave town and everyone involved in her rescue and care thought it best for her to be in a kennel. Sadly, she escaped. But late Wednesday night, the HPPL emailed me that Mabel is safe and sound! Here is Mabel's story from the Homeless Pet Placement League. "Hi, my name is Mabel.... my 'tail' is a sad one... I was adopted from HPPL two years ago after waiting in the kennel for such a long time for a forever home. I had the most wonderful mom and I was the light of her life. We took long rides to Ohio to see my new grandma, went to the beach in Galveston, and I even got to ride on the front of a canoe and then go swimming! I adjusted to each new event in my life because there is nothing better than having a home to call your own. Sadly, my mom died suddenly and I am alone again. Do you have a place in your heart for a sweet loyal girl like me? I am very smart and like to play, take long walks as well as just hang out. I am four years old and attentive to the folks that I bond to. I am a good girl who just needs a stable environment with someone I can love." There is a reward for Mabel's return. How scary and sad! I hope and pray that Mabel is found soon! How was she able to escape? I hope that the kennel takes a good look at the event and works hard to make sure that something like this NEVER happens again!
Makes me cry thinking about how she lost such a wonderful Mom and wonderful home! And then it makes me cry even harder to think that she is now probably so scared and wondering how to find her way home!! Or just find her way back to her foster mom!! Please everyone, be on the lookout for her everywhere!! Prayers to you Mabel - dont go far - we will find you!!
I just called one of the phone #'s listd above to see what I could do to help and
WOO HOO - MABEL HAS BEEN FOUND!!! She was missing for about a day but is now back safe with her foster mom. I did ask that someone submit an update to her story so that everyone would know she has been found, but wanted to blog it also!! I AM SO ECSTATIC - WORDS CANNOT EVEN DESCRIBE HOW ELATED I AM!! And just to let you know, Melody, the kennel was not at fault at all!! Mabel worked the morter from around a cinder block brick dividing two kennels, pushed the brick out to get into the other kennel where the gate was open due to no dog in that kennel and took off. The person I spoke to said that Mabel has been frantically searching everywhere for her Mom that passed and they are certain that this is what she was doing!! I am just so thankful she was found safe!!
I am so glad that Mabel has been found, but what a sad story. That baby deserves princess treatment and a home that will love her forever. If I didn't have 3 dogs I would take her in a heart beat, but I know in my heart a loving person will come along and adopt her.

Thanks for the update Donna! I'm so glad that Mabel was found! I'm glad that it wasn't the kennels fault too! My goodness, what an ingenious escape artist Mabel is! LOL!!!!!
