Pet food donations desperately needed!
For the first time in the history of the aniMeals on Wheels program, officials have to scale back on the amount of food they can deliver this month because of low donations. Many seniors will only receive half of what they would normally receive for the month. Animeals on wheels delivers over 4,000 pounds of pet food to nearly 200 homebound seniors and their pets every month. For homebound seniors in the Meals on Wheels program, the companionship of a pet is essential to their health and happiness. However, the cost and ability to acquire food for their best friends is often an impossible task. Rather than allow their pet to starve, many seniors share their meal; most often the protein portion, with their dog or cat. Animeals on Wheels is a lifesaving program enabling seniors to keep their beloved pets, who provide unconditional love, comfort and companionship, in their homes. You can help by donating unopened bags of pet food and/or gift cards to local pet stores. I live near Beaumont, so can I mail pet store gift cards to the HSPCA or Interfaith Ministries, since I can't get over there to drop food off? Are the above addresses their mailing addresses too, or is that different?
I think the program is one of the best programs that we, as the younger generation, can give to our elderly. The elderly are so deserving of this program, because they have so much to give to the community, and they have given all of their lives. Animals are a God-send to everyone that needs a companion. I will be helping in any way that I can, even though I live in Brenham. God Bless all of you who help!!!!!!!
It would be nice if we could just make a financial donation as some of us can't get there. Is there anyway to do that so it goes specifically to animeals on wheels?
Wonderful program for the seniors and their furry companions! I too would like to verify where we can send gift cards to help! But I would like to make sure that they are going to Animeals program! Can someone please vefify how we do this? thanks to all who help!!
Thank you all so much for your kind words and offers to help! Gift cards from a retailer like PetsMart, Petco, Target or Walmart are the best way to help support the Animeals program if you can't directly donate food. Please send gift cards to:

I was not aware this program existed, but think it's a great one. I live alone and am not too far removed from "senior citizen" status. I'd be lost without my pet. I will certainly contribute.
Rescue Bank is trying to help supply them with food. Donations can be made through Rescue Bank as well including secure monetary donations. This group is truely an all donation, non-profit organization.
