Desperate help needed in placing over 100 healthy adoptable animals! We received this email from a volunteer with Country Paws Rescue in Hempstead, TX..."It is with regret that I need to inform you that Country Paws Rescue, Hempstead, TX will be closing because of the loss of financial support. Country Paws is in desperate need of placing approximately 80 dogs and 60 cats so they will not be euthanized. Every attempt will be made to extend the time of the animals at the shelter for another week. Photos were taken today and will be available on a web site Saturday morning, May 31. All adoption fees on these dogs and cats will be waived. They are healthy, happy animals and personal profiles will be available on each of them. Anyone interested in adoption should contact Kim either on her cell phone 281-932-9347 or e-mail which is: HappyDogs9@yahoo.com. All potential adopters will be carefully screened. The shelter is not set up for personal visitation without an appointment. Arrangements will be made for personal visits to the shelter thru Kim." I spoke with Kim and they hope to extend the deadline until the end of next week. In addition to scheduling appointments for adopters, they are also accepting donations of food and money to help care for the animals for the coming week. They will also provide a link to the photos of the animals as soon as possible. 14 CommentsLeave a comment |
(Sniff, Sniff!) This is SO sad! I hope and pray that they are able to find loving forever homes for these precious souls! It breaks my heart to not be able to help! If you can, please do. PLEASE spay & neuter so that one day there won't be the need for so many shelters or animals put down.
This is so sad!!!! I know all foster homes at the rescue org that I foster for are probably full but I will definately mention to everyone at adoption day tomorrow! I pray that enough fosters / rescue orgs / forever homes come forward and help rescue all the furbabies in need!!! And if you cant adopt or foster, please consider making a donation that will allow the furbabies extra time to find placement!! I will praying for all involved!!
If there is anything we can do, please let us know! We are the owners of 8 cats, all fixed and regular vet visits, and when needed. It is so sad to see all these animals. If all of us human beings can come together and help, we are sure we can come up with something. If you need food or help in any way to keep the shelter opened until all animals are adopted please.........let us know!!
Country Paws,
Please contact us at 281.546.3406 (Eva) or 281.224.1881(Linda) for additional food and monetary donations.
If every person that reads this can take in one animal or have a friend or family to take just one, then all can be saved! These dear animals deserve to have some happiness for the short time that they spend on this earth. The people that adopt are the ones that gain the most. Where else can you find unconditional love? They ask nothing in return. It's a win/win situation for all involved.
Lisa, you are more then welcome to come to my store and do adoptions.
Best of luck,
Jessica
The meat from the animals that are put down should be given to food banks. That is a fairly 'win-win' situation I think.
The animals that will be put down are dogs and cats!! I dont think (and would certainly hope!!) that the food banks take or use dog and cat meat!! Isnt that illegal in USA????!!!
Thanks Donna! LOL! I have been biting my tongue all day! It clearly says dogs & cats!
Donna & Melody,
It is legal in the United States to consume the meat from dogs and cats. Beggars can't be choosers. I would not expect people who are in need of food to be picky about where there meat is comming from.
Rachel,
Is NOT legal to consume the meat of cats, dogs or horses within the United States. If you know of people that are, I'm sorry for you and for them.
These animals need help being fed and adopted - not to be consumed. Expecting the food banks to feed humans the meat from these animals is just.....well I'm at a loss for words. There is a reason that meat has to be USDA regulated......
Enough time spent on Rachel..........if anyone has any update as to the current adoption "status" of any of the animals at Country Paws, please let us know.
To all of those that are helping out these particular animals in need - we thank you. For those of you considering whether or not you can help - please do what you can.
Please contact Kim at Country Paws with your offers of food and adoption facilities........she may not have time to read these posts to see what help has been offered here (through no fault of hers of anyone else working their butts off to keep these animals fed, watered, cool, etc.)
These little guys have all gotten a second chance at Country Paws, now they need alittle more help from us to continue on with that second chance.
And a prayer of thanks for those volunteers, with Country Paws and every other organization out there, that are putting it out there for ALL these four legged friends of ours!!!
I work at a grooming shop and we took 11 of them. My boss is wonderful when it comes to helping dogs and people for that matter. I hope the rest of them make it through this.
God Bless you Missy, your boss, and anyone else involved in saving those 11 furbabies!! You will be rewarded for your kind gesture!!
