HOUSTON - The black swans that rule the roost at the Omni Houston Hotel are proud new parents. Juliet, the mother swan, has hatched two cygnets or baby swans. It's the first successful birth in more than five years. "Mom" and "dad" are hard at work teaching the babies to swim, by placing the cygnet on their backs and paddling through the pond. They learned to get comfortable in the water by riding on Juliet's back. Given the protective nature of the parents, the public is asked to admire the newest addition to the swan family from a respectful distance. The hotel is also inviting the public to help name the newest members of its feathered family. "The swans are a part of the Omni Houston family and one of the unique and best-loved aspects of our property," said General Manager David Shahriari. "We are taking great care to make sure the cygnets are safe and healthy, and would like to name our newest family members, with the help of our friends." You have until March 14th to enter your names at the hotel's Black Swan lounge or online at blackswanhouston.com. The winning names will be announced at Black Swan at 9 p.m. on March 14. One winner for each swan's name selected will win a Saturday night stay at the hotel, dinner for two at the Noé restaurant and breakfast the next morning at Café on the Green. 2 CommentsLeave a comment |
