Two last-chance dogs from BARC who were taken to a foster home have been returned. We need either a foster parent or someone who wants to take them home forever.

Lester and Sugar Ray are spayed, microchipped and ready to go! Their first vet visit is free. The fee is $55.

Sugar Ray is a 6-month-old border collie mix.

Lester is a 9-month-old dog.

If you can help these dogs out, call BARC at (713) 229-7300 or visit them at 3200 Carr St.

Poor babies! How sad that they were in a foster home away from BARC and now they are back! I hope they find their forever home asap! Oh how I wish I could take them! My brood is at its limit! Good luck & prayers for Lester & Sugar Ray!

God help us!! We have to stop overpopulating!!
I wish I could take them all. I'm a full house, and it's getting harder to place the ones I rescue. When will people realize the gift each animal has to give. They are no different than us - special in many ways.

How sad for the pups!! Here's wishing, hoping and praying that someone steps up and takes these beautiful furbabies and gives them the home they deserve!!

I called BARC to inquire about Sugar Ray and was told I needed his number. Can you obtain for me?
Thank you.

Carole - I have emailed contacts for BARC STARZ at BARC in an attempt to obtain this info for you. I have requested either they give me the info to blog to you or someone at BARC blog it for you. I know they would hate for Sugar Ray to miss out on a possible home due to lack of a #!!

Carole - Just heard back from my BARC STARZ contact person and she says that Sugar Ray has been adopted!!! Yea for Sugar Ray and his new family!! If you arent the person who adopted him, I am sorry you did not get the chance to give him a wonderful forever home! But I bet they have another dog that will be just perfect for you!! In fact, I think it was Lester that was returned at the same time Sugar Ray was! Might check on him!! Good luck!!

Update on Lester - according to BARC, a 2nd foster family has flaked out on him! He is still a pup in need!!!

Carole said:

Donna,
Thank you for your help. I'm glad he was adopted. Do we know why Lester has been returned? I am going out of town in the morning. Will check in when I return.

Carole, I admit I wondered the same thing - why he was returned. But it may have been a foster issue not a Lester issue (in fact I would bet on it!) For example, someone adopted a 4 mo old puppy from the rescue org I foster for on Sat. We ask lots of questions and make sure the home sounds like a good home - and we also make sure the family understands the challenges that a 4 mo old puppy may present. This pup was already doggie door trained so was housetrained for the most part. But even a dog that is totally housetrained will have a possible accident in new surroundings and new people. All of this is explained and is actually a written part of the application to adopt. Well on Sunday, the pup was returned because she pooped on the carpet. No explanation as to why she may have done it (as in the people possibly not recognizing her ques to go outside). They just brought her back. Which ultimately is a good thing - because this shows a lack of commitment on their part and we want better than that for her! Anyway, let me know if you need me to contact my person with BARC and get more info on Lester! Thanks for caring!!

How sad for that little puppy Donna! Clearly those people were not committed to having to take care of a dog! It doesn't matter how old a dog, or even a cat, is...there will still be an accident for one reason or another at some point. (There are great cleaners that will take care of that!) It takes patience with a puppy and continued learning of their signals by the owner! You have to be observant! UGH!!! How frustrating! I hope Lester finds a home and is ok too!

If people care more about their precious carpet or Queen Anne furniture, they have no business adopting an animal. Those are THINGS people, not living, breathing sentient beings. I agree with one poster, get some cleaner, clean it up and move on. What do those people do when their kid spills their milk? Call CPS? We should be allowed to spay/neuter some people ;)
