Michael Vick and three co-defendants were indicted by a grand jury Tuesday on state charges related to a dogfighting ring operated on Vick's Virginia property. Vick, who already pleaded guilty in federal court to a dogfighting conspiracy charge and is awaiting sentencing on Dec. 10, was indicted for beating or killing or causing dogs to fight other dogs and engaging in or promoting dogfighting. The grand jury passed on indicting the Atlanta Falcons quarterback and two co-defendants on eight counts of animal cruelty, which would have exposed them to as many as 40 years in prison if convicted. I had to read it twice just to make sure I was reading it correctly - and now I can't believe what I am reading!! The grand jury decided not to charge Vick or the 2 other murderers with eight counts of animal cruelty! Say what??!! I don't see any mention as to what criteria they used in making this terrible decision!! I guess this is where the celebrity part is finally rearing its ugly head!! How could they not charge them??!! Totally unacceptable!!
What? Yesterday I read an article that said they had indicted him! ANYONE who fights dogs or does anything that has to do with any kind of cruelty like that should be charged...no matter who they are!
Unbelievable isn't it!
Vick was indicted on state charges for "beating or killing or causing dogs to fight other dogs and engaging in or promoting dogfighting" but the
grand jury passed on indicting him for the eight counts of animal cruelty. "Beating, killing, causing dogs to fight..." is animal cruelty in my personal opinion!
