The Houston Humane Society invites all campers age 7 to 13 to Companion Camp, August 6 through 10.

Campers, age 7 - 13, will have a chance to learn about animal safety, obedience training, and explore various animal-related careers. Featured speakers include zookeepers, veterinarians, animal cruelty investigators, bloodhound rescue teams, and dog trainers. Campers will get to meet all the critters housed at the HHS, including dogs, cats, horses, pigs, goats and sheep. They'll even get the chance to practice their obedience training skills with some adoptable pets. Camp costs are $50 per day or $200 for a full week session.

For more information please contact the Houston Humane Society by phone at 713.341.3309 or by email at volunteers@houstonhumane.org. A registration form is also available online at houstonhumane.org

How fun! I hope they are full to the brim with kids! What a great way to teach children about animals, introduce them to animal related jobs, and also expose them to and help them understand the plight of homeless animals. I hope that the camp is successful! (I wish there would have been one when I was that age!!)

I hope that the camp is successful! (I wish there would have been one when I was that age!!) This is also great for the animals! They'll get much needed attention from the children. And I'm sure they will also teach the children some valuable lessons during that interaction!
